‘Containment’ exhibition by Mark Friedlander

Please join us at the Schoolhouse Gallery for ‘Containment’ by Mark Friedlander

Opening: Thursday 25th July, 6 – 8pm
Exhibition Dates: 25th July – 1st August 2019
Schoolhouse Gallery is open Monday – Friday, 9am – 3pm

This project explores the space of making as an agent that produces its own aesthetic outcomes. A video work reveals the site where the work is fabricated, exposing its artifice whilst also contextualising it within a unique set of possibilities. A lithograph, produced in collaboration with Adrian Kellett of Sunshine Editions, draws new information out of photographs that have been central to this practice.

Mark Friedlander’s practice takes place in a workshop ecology that supports his interest in materials and their associated processes. His works include architectural forms and nonsensical ‘conversation pieces’; small pieces made during a chat. He is currently undertaking his PhD at the Faculty of Fine Art and Music, University of Melbourne.
